Ulta Alter Ego

I wore this back when the sunshine was abundant and I had every intention of taking sun pics of this polish. You see, Ulta's Alter Ego really shines in the sun (pardon the pun) and that's when it is at its best. However, its been a rainy, dark couple of days in North Texas so I only have indoor and shady outdoor pics. This is a REALLY pretty polish though, it has gold running through it's metallic teal base. Two coats was all I needed to get bottle color. Ulta is always having a sale on their brand of cosmetics so if you want this, I'm  pretty sure you can catch a good deal.

By the way, this is random, but I wonder how Ulta came up with the name for this polish? I don't see any link between this shade and the name "Alter Ego". Maybe if it was apart of a collection I would understand? Oh well. *shrugs*

Ulta Last Fling Before the Ring

 3 coats + Seche Vite

I'm slowly but surely making my way through my latest Ulta purchases. I picked Last Fling Before the Ring for this past weekend's manicure. I own a couple of pastel purple polishes but this one is my favorite at the moment. Probably because I love the name (haha!) and the complexity of the color. I can see purple and gray in this color and its a really pretty balance. The last picture, taken in the shade outdoors, is the most accurate representation of this color in my opinion. I paired this color with a purple sundress for a cousin's birthday party this past weekend, and I got compliments on it at the mall. Last Fling Before the Ring is definitely a good springtime pick for your next manicure.

St. Patty's Green NOTD!

My pick for the green of the day?

Ulta's The Jungle Look! Super smooth medium green creme. Gets no complaints from me. I only needed two coats to achieve bottle color to my liking. Its pretty opaque and I could have gotten away with one thick coat, but I did two.

I photographed it in sunlight and indoors.

Ulta Ultra Violet

I know fall its coming, with its cooler temperatures and darker colors, but can I hold on to a bit of summer for a moment? I'm loving Ulta's Ultra Violet. This polish puts me in the mind of Color Club's Electro Candy collection with the blue-purple shimmer running through it. There's actually a color named Ultra Violet in that collection, but I don't have it to compare to. Does this look like a dupe? Anyhow, I love this polish. I have nothing in my collection like it.

Ulta's Salon Lacquer nail polish is on sale for $2 through September 25th. I have another Ulta polish to post this week that I think may be a dupe for OPI's Jade is the New Black. Dont sleep on Ulta! I used two coats and this dried matte, but that was nothing a coat of Seche Vite couldn't fix.

Ulta Salon Formula Nail Lacquer: Plum Perfect

Ulta is having a sale on their brand of cosmetics and their polishes are $2 right now! It looks like they have a "summer collection" out but the only thing I noticed that said that was the sign next to the polishes in-store. The reason I say this is apart of a "collection" is because the colors are all bright and are in different bottles from the old Ulta polishes. If you use this  link you can see the other polishes down at the bottom of the color options. These shades must be popular on sale because I was only able to grab Plum Perfect and I really would have liked to get Tutu cute (lilac purple) and Blue Streak (bright blue).

So here's Plum Perfect:

 Indoors (above)

 Outdoors-Sun shot

Outdoors-Shade Shot

This is my first Ulta polish and I must say I wasn't disappointed. The formula is not bad; its not too thick and dries quickly. Plum Perfect could have been opaque in one coat, but I did two here. The brush was fine too, wasn't bushy or have any wild stray hairs. I hate when a color is fabulous, but the brush makes application a nightmare. (Ahem, Maybelline Minty.) The only thing I regret is not being able to get my hands on the other fun shades that I wanted!
